World at War New Maps

Today is the day.  You marked your calendar with the countdown, you planned your entire week around today’s big event, and you made absolutely sure you have all the cash you need-somewhere around ten bucks.  Today is the day “World at War” new maps debut.

You absolutely, positively will be the first among all the cool gamers to purchase the Call of Duty: World at War new maps.  You will settle for nothing less; you accept no other options.  Absolute victory will be yours.

The World at War new maps pack includes three new maps for the living including Nightfire, Station, and Knee Deep; the pack also features one new area in which to battle the zombie hordes.  “Zombie Verruckt,” like all the new maps, is designed for use in the game’s regular multi-player.  Unlike the other maps in the pack, Zombie Verruckt allows teams to take their best shots against the undead, struggling for survival against enemies.

You and up to three of your closest brothers in arms can prove your skill in this latest creation of the Asylum multi-player map.  Although , it probably seems obvious, you will have the most fun if you play with either two or four people, because the game will start you on opposite sides of the map-the familiar-looking two-story building with the big courtyard in the middle.  You will defeat zombies all around until you rendezvous at the middle of the building…or die.

Of course, playing defensively, you want to survive with your brains pretty much uneaten and functioning.  Playing offensively; however, the objective has changed.  In the game’s early stages, just like before, you will kill zombies and earn money for new weapons; in this game though, as you brutalize the bad guys, you will get keys to open the doors that lead you to “the generator.”

Now, you have two objectives: Sure, you want to reunite with your buddies, but you especially want to get to the generator that controls lots of high-powered zappers and a host of vending machines, which dispense super powered colas that deliver all kinds of special weapons and properties.  Using the zappers to your advantage, you can take out whole groups of zombies in one huge blast-great efficiency and nice ammo conservation.  You don’t get as many points for blasting a bunch as you receive for killing them one-by-one with a gun; however, you get a great effect and you live longer.  Seems like a fair trade to me.

Getting to the generator obviously doesn’t end the game, but if you can get that far on the World at War new map pack’s the first day, the rest ought to be just a walk in the park.

5 Ps3 Exclusives

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots – This is the latest game of the Metal Gear franchise, with the main character Solid Snake rapidly aging and near death. MGS4 has been said by Gamespot to be technically flawless. A unique feature of the gameplay is that Snake’s combat abilities can be affected by his mental state during battle, which is affected in turn by battlefield conditions and health.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune – This is an adventure game along the lines of the Prince of Persia series with FPS elements added. It centers on an explorer who is the descendant of the pirate Francis Drake. A notable gameplay element is the lack of any on-screen health indicator; instead, the screen display desaturates. The game was known for having production values that nearly reached blockbuster film levels.

Valkyria ChroniclesValkyria Chronicles is a tactical role-paying-game by Sega. It is known for its lush watercolor-like graphics and the tighter control of strategy. The player can control the individual actions of characters in real-time as they move into attack positions. The setting of the game is an alternate history of 1930s Europe.

Heavenly Sword – One of the first best-selling games on the PS3. This game was innovative in its use of many enemy models on screen at one time, allowing the main character Nariko to engage hundreds of fighters at once. The game made heavy use of cinematic gameplay, also called interactive cutscenes and had a sweeping, epic storyline.

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction – The newest Ratchet and Clank game showed what the Playstation 3 hardware can do. It’s one of the first games, along with Heavenly Sword, to make extensive use of the SIXAXIS motion-sensitive controller to direct projectiles. It is widely considered to be one of the best exclusive PS3 games thus far, and a solid entry to its own series.

PlayStation 3 vs. Xbox 360

The PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 are undoubtedly two of the greatest video game consoles ever released to date. Now, with two outstanding consoles out there, how do people know which to buy? Well, it really comes down to what they want in a system, because both of these have different features.

The PlayStation 3 has a lot of hype around it due to the fact that its processor is developed by 3 top companies (IBM, Sony, and Toshiba). Furthermore, the graphics card was designed by the one and only NVIDIA, who design some of the most powerful graphics capabilities on the market today. With all these great specs, the system also comes with a BluRay Player, allowing users to hold up to 54 GB. Users can watch HD movies, browse the web, and more – all from the compact Ps3 console.

With the added graphics, the Ps3 system allows users to have an ultimate, realistic gaming experience. Movements of characters are not far from looking completely real, and the maps are incredibly realistic. The level of graphics brought into the PS3 are said to be similar to what you would see nowadays in some of the most graphic-savvy movies. The system also has a very wide variety of games, and can play games from previous PlayStation models, which is a huge bonus.

On the other hand, we have the Ps3’s arch enemy, the Xbox 360 console. Now, the Xbox 360 was built much more like a computer, as it uses a processor by IMB with 512MB of Ram, and a whopping 3.2GHz. You’re typical PC? Nope, much above it actually. Of course the RAM is what we would usually find in computers nowadays, but the 3.2GHz is not found in many computers. Put these two together, inside one powerful processor and you have one of the highest powered systems on the market.

Furthermore, the system offers quite good graphics, though many would argue that the Ps3 offers better. The graphics card is an ATI at 500MHz. The 360 comes with a dual DVD-ROM, which many would also argue is not as impressive as the PS3’s BluRay player. Nonetheless, the player can hold DVD and CD formats, allowing this Xbox 360 to be more than just a gaming console, but more like a home entertainment in system

Both of these systems, as you can see, have very high graphic capabilities. Both systems offer some games that the other does not, but the spread is fairly even. You will also have to consider how much you are willing to pay for a system, as Ps3 is much more than the Xbox 360. Two great systems, one tough choice for you to make!
