Valkyria Chronicles – Ps3 Exclusive

Valkyria Chronicles was published by Sega and released in North America on November 4th, 2008. It is a Sony Playstation 3 exclusive, and features a tactical role-playing style. A unique aspect of the game is that it was created using the Sega Canvas graphics engine. This basically means that Valkyria resembles a watercolor painting, but in motion. It’s a breathtaking example of how beautiful PS3 graphics really can be. Not only is this game a good example of fantastic graphics, but it also has a great movement and controls for your character.

So, the craze for driving games is back, and is it just catching up with a few hardcore gaming freaks? Perhaps not! Check out the following top list and see what’s hot in the driving/racing gamers’ community right now, especially if you own the PlayStation3 gaming console.

5. SEGA Rally Revo
How in the world, and I mean, how can we forget offroad racing? Getting dirty with cars has never been so much fun. Almost 16 out of 33 cars have to be unlocked, but that’s where the fun begins. But is that all? Well, we thought real hard to come up with a fake reason to put this game here on the list, but we found a good, genuine one – It reminds you of the good ol’ SEGA arcade days, and it’s just FUN.

4. Forumula One Championship Edition
Drive, Race, Simulate. Developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, this is yet another hot PS3-exclusive (Wasn’t that obvious? Duhh!) With an improved artificial intelligence system making the game more realistic than ever before and a progressive gameplay, Formula One Championship Edition is our new favorite.

3. Ridge Racer 7
Over two years old, yet so new, Ridge Racer 7 is exclusively available to PS3 owners. Choose a car from the wide range (around 40), land on one of the 22 courses, and drift your car around hairpin turns, feel the excitement and win the race. Wow, such excitement! Couple it with superb graphics, Dolby Digital audio and you’re bound to stick with it for months.

2. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Bikes, Mud Pluggers, Buggies, ATVs, Racing Trucks, Rally Cars, and… Monster Trucks! Besides, the game now moves from the brown worlds to a more colorful, island environment. 16 tracks and 51 vehicles from 8 vehicle classes will give you so much variety; you’ll want us to keep it at the Top 2 spot for some more time. Need we say more?

1. Burnout Paradise
Released in January 2008 for the PS3 and still topping this chart is Criterion Games’ biggest hit thus far. Published in association with Electronic Arts, Criterion’s Burnout Paradise has been a heavy hitter with the racing ‘jerks.’ Drive or ride, crash or speed by, follow the route or create your own – Burnout Paradise gives you over 250 miles of open world, known as “Paradise City.” But, what makes this one a winner? Turn to Criterion, and you’ll find that they’re working on giving you more of it, with over 7 packs out after the game’s initial launch.

Got any games of your choice to add to this list?

PlayStation Network

For years the Sony PlayStation has been competing with products like the GameCube and Xbox. Every year each company comes out with newer and better features that stun and wow everyone. PlayStation easily outranked GameCube over the years, but Xbox was tough to beat. The creators over at Sony were working hard to compete, and when Xbox came out with Xbox live which was an online feature in which players could connect with other players via the internet the Sony PlayStation struggled to compete. PlayStation two came with extra features like the ability to play DVDs and music, but still couldn’t compete with the Xbox. With the Xbox pounding out new features and products left and right, Sony had to do something.

With the PlayStation three, Sony saw an opportunity to gain back the rank they had before the Xbox stole the limelight. PlayStation three had all of the features of PlayStation one and two, and came in a sleek new wireless look. The PlayStation network came about in efforts to compete with the Xbox live feature of the Xbox, and has done a brilliant job.

What is the PlayStation Network?

The PlayStation Network is an online network in which players of the PlayStation three can connect to the internet and play against other PS3 owners as Xbox live players are able to. That’s not all though, the reason for all of the buzz according to the creators of the PlayStation Network is all of the advanced personalization that is available with the PlayStation Network.

The PlayStation Network not only allows people to have a simple log-in where they can easily choose from a list of users in their home, but it also allows you to have a personal avatar image which helps personalize each online user as well as a home. In the users “Home” they are given the option to create their own personal space like an apartment. That’s not all that the PlayStation Network is bringing you either, you can even meet in the home lobby in which other users can meet up with you, etc.

What about Games?

As far as games and gaming go, the PlayStation Network offers downloadable games on their network. No running to the store just to find something to play, the PlayStation Network offers free games as well as paid games that can be launched from the PS3 Network home. Users worldwide can meet in the “Home Lobby” to view games, choose their multiplayer settings together and begin playing.

Best of all however, is the money aspect. It is free to connect to the PlayStation Network and it offers numerous games and features that can keep you entertained, which is much more preferable than paying fifty dollars a game at the store for most people. The PlayStation network allows you to play multiplayer games with people worldwide, no more sitting in a room playing the games alone. Sony worked long and hard on the much anticipated PlayStation Network, and gamers worldwide are eating it up.
